A day-by-day account, with a number of photographs, by Harry Pollitt of his impressions of India, during his visit there (12 December 1953 to 7 January 1954) to attend the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of India in Madura, 28 December 1953 to 4 January 1954. He recounts his itinerary and his experiences during his visits to Bombay, Delhi, Amritsar, Kolkata, and Madras. He attends mass functions and meets communist leaders including Ajoy Ghosh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India, as well as visiting sites including the Golden Temple and the Taj Mahal. The diary concludes with his impressions of the Party Congress in Madura.
