Keke 23/3/85 ] [Thank you, Comrade Chairman!] On behalf of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania I the liberation movement which has always been the pace-setter in the struggle of the African people to fight to regain their land and overthrow white domination I I feel honoured to have been invited to attend and address this Seminar. Comrades and friends, brothers and Sisters, I must really point out that Comrade Kim Il Sung is one of the greatest revolutionaries of our time. ] If we try to look at the world today, we see that there are cross-currents which work to undermine the successes of the past, which work to undermine what has already been done by great revolutionaries.
② Now, in the situation in Korea you find its that this people are always consistent! American imperialism has always been Democratic People's working to destroy the Republic of Korea and destroy the socialist achievements in its that country. But those people [have left Compromising, Comrades - they are not Compromising; and we are really convinced, And we are confident, that with their Juche philosophy which stresses the importance of the right of self-determination, which stresses the importance of self-reliance This is a message imparted to the to let manes [you know] for them to know what they are fighting for for them to know when that, those [who are] entrusted with positions of responsibility start with Compromising against what people are prepared to die for, they must be in a position to come out and say boldly: that what you [people] [you] are doing.
( 3 • is you are undermining our cause. You are destroying whatever achievements we have already attained. Now, that goes a long way because, in my continent of Africa in which, as everybody knows, the indigenous peoples were the dispossessed of their land — our people fought hard, our people made sacrifices, but we find that those who were in the leadership, many of them, if not the majority, happened only to highlight their own class interest. Now, we ask ourselves, we ask ourselves, what is it which makes people to do a thing like this? Is it possible that — after people have been murdered brutally, villages ? after settlements have been destroyed, after people have become homeless — is that there are a tiny clique of six or seven people who are bold enough [you know] to work to destroy what people have been dying for?
(4 Is it really natural that, because people have not been to school, because people have not studied in imperialist universities, that they should be just tossed around, just like that, [as I was thinking], in my continent? Some leaders in Africa The answer is one: those opportunists who happened to play their tricks very 2. well (because even America [?] can mislead a man can people, you see [right?]), they have it a made their point that people should not be taught an ideology which will for always be a guiding light to all their actions. - That is why we people in Africa [we] a have high regard for the Osagyefo, President Kwame Nkrumah, whose son is a participant in this Seminar was just here. It was precisely because Osagyefo he the man made it a point that people should be taught not only African nationalism, as a liberatory creed.
(5 against oppression, but they must be taught also socialism and democracy. People should know that, if independence is to be meaningful and real [fright?], [They must the that] Independence must have the form of a social order, a social arrangement, wheres people hold in Common the means of production and share in accordance with their needs the fruits of their collective labour. Now, fortunately for us, some of the disappointed leaders [really] who [have] annoyed us in the past have had at least the Courage to admit their past mistakes. really I [attended] a meeting at the Royal which Commonwealth Society & where President Nyerere was addressing recently some leaders where he pointed out that [they] were very very proud to find themselves [put as] * installed as presidents [you know] in newly independent states. They were proud
6 to get of getting 21-gun salutes when they visited imperialist countries like Britain. And Nkrumah was a lone voice, showing our telling people that: Comrades, my fellow leaders, my colleagues! As long as you are not in control of the natural resources in your countries, this is neo-colonialism which we are experiencing - it is neo- Colonialism, it is sham independence, it has no meaning whatsoever! Yes, you see an African president, an African judge, you see you see African soldiers or police; but the fact of the matter is: the man in the street is starving, the man in the street is a victim of diseases, the man in the street is unable to have shelter, the man in the street is find not dressed properly. And yet. we boast of having independence!
. (7 . Now, it is in the light of this that When we see philosophies such as Juche Which stipulated very, very clearly what independence is all about, and what the masses themselves can do I we find that, Whether I, Zolile Keke, I have lost my comrades in Lesotho, who were murdered brutally when they were going to lead the revolution in Azania, and then that despite all that such that I must honour a Seminar as this one, precisely because it is aimed at making people not to repeat mistakes which have been made done * previously. It is aimed at imparting You know knowledge to people [right], about what is actually meant by independence, as you can read for yourselves in the Juche (as formulated by Comrade Kim Jong Il, philosophy for instance: "The independent stand is The working class is the most a thoroughly revolutionary independent class which struggles to emancipate itself by its own initiative. So I am just trying to point out, and to Comrades, that we are very, very happy become the master of its own destiny. to be with you today, we are very, very happy to have been invited by the Mosquito Press.
(8 Now These comrades of Mosquito Press are some of the very few comrades, in the white left in this country, who will support a liberation movement like the PAC without any conditions [struck: fright?] [inserted: right?]. They are convinced that [struck: at least those] [inserted: that] people of the PAC [struck: the] [inserted: they] are fighting to regain their [struck: land] [inserted: they are] fighting [struck: to see to it that they] [inserted: to [you know]] [inserted: to build] implement a socialist programme [struck: of] [inserted: to build] a new society. [handwritten: They] [struck: These people] [inserted: They] are people who know very well that [struck: as it is] [inserted: was] not internal, historical factors [struck: which] [inserted: that] created imperialism in our continent, [struck: but] [inserted: that] imperialism came out of colonialism; indeed, imperialism is international and, as such, the struggle against imperialism is universal. Those who are [struck: fighting] [inserted: delivering blows against imperialism] in whatever country, [struck: they] [inserted: they] are serving to advance [struck: fright?] [inserted: right?] the socialist cause. [struck: They are serving] [inserted: they are serving] [struck: [you know]] [inserted: [you know]] to deliver a blow against imperialism. Because there is no doubt, [struck: there is no] [inserted: there is no] doubt, comrades, [struck: that] [inserted: that], as the Osagyefo
(9 said, if ever Africa is united, if Africa is liberated and it implements a socialist programme, imperialism will be doomed! Because, obviously, workers in this country are no more going to be [you know] bribed by social securities (you see); they are going to swell the ranks of revolutionaries. And the people of Ireland are going to find themselves [you know] having it better than When imperialists are using all sorts of sophisticated weapons, from the riches of Africa, because this is the situation (Comrades,) this is [the situation What which] is happening presently. Indeed, they are going to triumph; we are going to triumph; all people who are committed to the socialist cause [they] are sure to triumph! So, comrades, we are convinced [really] I must [really] point out that we are really hoping that people who work consistently, who work honestly for the realisation of the ideas which are embodied [in] the Juche philosophy, [they] will be doing a great lot of service to humanity.
• (10 ~ Because, undoubtedly, imperialism must be crushed if people are to live happy I and it is not imincible, comrades! [Take the situation in any country. In my Country we African peoples [we] have been land dispossessed of our country [right?]), and the white settler minority has • arrogated to itself the exclusive control of political power, economic power, social power and cultural power. They claim that an African is inferior to a white man I they cannot [you know] be on a par I they cannot really share power with the African people [right?]. But inheriting • their very system, you find that they are [you know] witnesses; because the labour that is needed from the African people. I as they treat us as inferior people, they [you know] derive a lot of cheap labour I which thing means, then, if we are capable of mobilising and galvanising
