EPRLF ① THE EELAM NATION IS STRUGGLING FOR CHAJUSONG. 800 words? Dear Comrades, and First of all I would like to thank the organisers of this Seminar for inviting us to attend this Great anti-imperialist seminar. I am here as the representative of the Eelam Peoples Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF), which is spearheading the revolutionary forces within the Eelam National liberation movement. Some of the Participants here may not be fully aware of the Eelam National liberation struggle and its crucial role in the anti-imperialist struggle of this epoh. So I think it is important for me to briefly outline the struggle of our people The Eelam Nation is currently Occupied by Sri Lankan forces. Before this until 1948, For nearly ③ three Centuries your country was colonised by European Colonialists, Portugeese, Dutch and then British.

2 Territorially it lies between Southern India and Sri Lanka It is separated by a narrow strip of waterway from mainland India . I do not think this is an appropriate forum for me to elaborate the viability of Eelam or to give academic substantiation for Eelam's Nationhood. However I Can say, [Eelam is a full-fledged Nation, According to the Marxist classics, in as having • 1) A Common Language - Tamil 2) A Common territory [As from Mannar to Batticaloa and from Pt. pedro to Badulla] 3) A Common economic life (The majority of the people are Peasants and fisher-folks) 4) A Common psychological make-up, as manifested in a Community of culture .

(3) From our own experiance we know that in Sri-Lanka today, Sinhala- Budhist chauvanism has become the ideology of the ruling class. and For decades, this ruling class has been engaged in a gradual process of annihilation of our people, our language, our livelihood. and the actions of the State or bordering on genocide. through their bitten experiances, the masses in Eelam have come to the Conclusion that they must wage a war of liberation to ensure their survival as a Nation and people. Those who uphold "Chajusong" must should respect the independent decession of our people. This is not a decission made by so-called militants or extremists, as Projected in the imperialist medfia.

Comrades, this is evident in the relentless war and the heroic resistance that is being waged against the ruthless and barbarous enemy. The people of Eelam believe, that Eelam of cruns is a nation distinct and apart from all others and capable of working out Us own destiny and living its own life. As the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Said: " In order to become the master of its own destiny, a Nation must have an independant government and firmly gufnantee political independance!"

(5) In our past expexicance So, Comrades, any right thinking man Can understand our just struggle. In our experiance During the of past few years of our struggle there were criticisms have been levelled against us from the dogmatist "left" frons in Sri Lanka and their followers in Eelam. Firstly they said that the Eelam struggle will is detrimental to the working-class struggle in Sri Lanka. Those who held this position failed to understand that reality. Those who The reality is (there is not one Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Consists of two Nations. and The people of Eelam have expressed their Aspirations and have to come to the Conclusion that acheiving Statehood is the only way for their survival. Can one afford to ignore the independant decession of all the people and try to impose, dogmatic notions on our People? No one beleived in independance can afford to do this.

(6) Secondly they say (that) the national liberation struggle is a stumbling block to the spirit of Internationalism. On the Contrary, mutual respect for (to) the independent deceptions and aspirations of (other) Nations and peoples can only lay a firm foundation for the strengthening of the spirit of Internationalism. [Here again I quote from the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung: "Chajusong is not in conflict with Internationalism but is the basis of its strengthening. Just as the world revolution is inconceivable without the revolution in one's own Country, Internationalism divorced from Chajusong cannot exist. As a matter of Principle internationalist solidarity must be based on freedom of Choice and equality. Only when it is founded on (x) Chajusong (x) will inter- nationalist solidarity become based on free Choice and equality and become genuine and durable".

stet (7) The Eelam struggle is an important anti-imperialist struggle of this epoh. It will not be too long before the United States again learns the bitter lesson it once learnt in Korea and Vietnam - It is also important for all those who Are Struggling for freedom, Independence, (throughout the world) & Socialism to realise that the independent revolutionary nature of the Eelam People's struggle as is one of the main components of the anti- imperialist struggle of this epoh. If we don't we will be making a historical mistake.

(10). also And broadly comrades, I would like to add a few words on the role of E.P.R.L.F. as the Vanguard of the revolutionary forces. E.P.R.L.F. recognises the present phase of the struggle as National Liberation Struggle and all social classes have a role to play and are doing so. In the meantime E.P.R.L.F. sees its role as ensuring oppressed class leadership to the National Liberation struggle. To this end E.P.R.L.F specifies its tasks as follows. 1. Actively engage in the resistance, and forging a United front with other liberation organisations which to a greater or lesser degree represent different class interests, Uphold the Concept of Patriotism- So far we have been successfull in forging a United front with two other important Organisations ie Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (T.E.L.O). & Eelam Revolutionary organisation (E.R.O.S.)
