MIKE [Add after final paragraph & before slogans:] Comrades, the revolutionary youth in Glasgow have a good habit of writing revolutionary slogans on bare walls in the city. Throughout Glasgow you can see slogans which read "Victory to the IRA", "Victory to the INLA", "Victory to the PLO". But there is one slogan in the east end of Glasgow which is especially dear to my heart. It reads "Hands off Korea". Ireland's War says: US and British imperialists - Hands off Korea!
(ce. 300 words) (1 PLOT: Comrades, My other comrade from Tamil Eelam spoke much about the ......[?] struggle 國. I am from the People's Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam. I haven't got much to say about our problems, as you heard from him, especially after all these struggles you have been hearing. Still, I can bring you some of the things that have been going on internationally, especially the involvement of the Israelis and the South Koreans in our problems. US imperialism is behind all this that the Sri Lankan government is doing. It is the main stooge that...[?] all this are the Israelis with their Mossad 國 and ⓣⓗⓔⓘⓡ are especially trained ⓣⓗⓔⓘⓡ people working, terrorising the masses just like they terrorise Palestinians and Lebanese. They are teaching the Sri Lankan forces how to terrorise the masses, and the killing day by day, destroying properties as their tactics. And they hope they can win it. They will never win it.
[PLOT] The South Koreans are also involved in our (2 problems. They are also, through the American influence, the lackeys there. They work with the Americans there, and the Sri Lankan government is forming an alliance of the most oppressive nations in the world; like they have been going to the South Africans for help. When they can't get help from fairly reasonable countries they go to the most oppressive nations for help like South Korea, Israel, South Africa and the United States. This is the situation and we hope to build up a revolutionary Tamil Eelam based on the ideals of Marxism and Leninism, of the needs suited to our country's situation, to work in alliance with the victorious nations and the national liberation movements. We send our greetings to the North Korean Workers' Party and the advancement in their struggle internally and internationally with the aid of the Juche Idea. Thank you.
FIONA. PRISM On November 23 1983, a conference of independent anti-imperialists was held in Glasgow which discussed the way forward for independent political groups who support national liberation and the Irish Republican Movement. Out of this conference was born the 'PRO-REPUBLICAN IRISH SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT' which was officially formed in May 1984. Past solidarity movements have refused to support the IRA and INLA and have found themselves floundering in a sea of liberalism and humanitarianism and building nothing. PRISM states that the Irish Republican Movement is a stead- fast National Liberation Movement which refuses to surrender to British imperialism and is therefore the true representative of the interests of the whole of the Irish people. Solidarity with Ireland must mean solidarity with the revolutionary organisations of the Irish people and their armed struggle. The groups and individuals who attended the November conference expressed the need for a movement which would give unconditional and non-critical support to the Irish struggle for freedom. We were aware of the bankruptcy of the British left both on the cuase of Ireland and in their general politics, and in an atmosphere of true revolutionary spirit the comrades were able to dispense with the chauvinist attitudes of the left opportunists and effect a truly revolutionary policy on Ireland and on national struggles. For, in the words of James Connolly, "the phrases and watchwords which might serve to express the soul of the movement in one country may possibly stifle its soul and suffocate its expression in the other". It is no coincidence that this epoch-making conference was held in Scotland - in Glasgow - where the Republican Flute Bands regularly hold local marches of 2,000 people in full support of the Irish Republican Movement. These marches are organised around the people of no property - the youth, the unemployed, the poor people of Glasgow - and are militant celebrations of the Irish revolution. PRISM (Scotland) is made up of several independent groups under the guidance of the newspaper 'IRELAND'S WAR'. Each group, working on the basis of non-critical support for the Irish struggle works in its own area among its own people in the way it feels is most effective. For as George Jackson says: "..there can be nothing dogmatic about revolutionary theory. It is to be born out of each popular struggle". (Blood In My Eye). These groups are based in the most oppressed sections of the working and unemployed class of Scotland and are the masters of revolution. In the words of Kim Il Sung: "The revolution is a struggle to meet the masses' desire for independence by enlisting their strength. It is a struggle of the masses to free themselves". In this struggle to free ourselves from oppression, we recognise the need to stand firmly beside the Irish revolutionaries and all other national freedom movements, for the struggle for national independence is also a struggle for international freedom.
SCRP GRACE May I say on behalf of the Scottish Communist Republican Party how honoured I am to be invited to this important conference of anti-imperialists and communists. Today I wish to speak about the commitment of the Scottish Communist Republican Party to prisoner work, that is work among prisoners and their relitives. One of the first acts of the Scottish Communist Republican Party when it was founded was to affiliate to the Irish Republican POW Campaign. We give them the total support they deserve as imprisoned freedom-fighters against murderous British imperialism. We have also given priority to work for Scottish Republican political prisoners, and will continue to do all we can for these Scots, captured as they took up arms against British rule in [illegible] Scotland, thus [illegible] & sharing a common struggle with their Irish brothers and sisters. But today I particularly wish to speak of the struggle in Scottish peisons against the appalling conditions there. Prisoners are battling against isolation, deprivation, the denial of basic human rights and ultimately against the very existance of the Scottish Prison dystem itself. The Scottish Communist Republican Party places great emphasis on its work with the Scottish Prisoners Support Committee. With prisoners relatives and ex-prisoners we have begun the first work of its kind in Scotland. We have as our example the dedicated and sucessful work of the independant Relatives Action Committies in Ireland. Without their groundwork the mass mobilisation of the Hunger-Strike Action Committies would never have been possible. The Relatives Action Committees worked on the principles of independance, self-reliance and self-activity, carring out practical support work, public work and national and international propoganda work on behalf of the protesting prisoners. Why then should communists and anti-imperialists support and give priority to the struggles of all prisoners, ordinary as well as political? Why should we totally reject the label of criminal for all of them. Prisoners in Britain's prisons are people who have fallen foul of British "law and order". As communists and republicans we reject the entire British imperialist state. We reject its "justice" which is injustice incarnate. We reject its laws which aim only to keep the working class quiet enough to be exploited effectively. Karl Marx said that law-breaking is the lowest form of struggle against the state. It is isolated and individualistic but all the same it is a form of struggle. Those who engage in it are light years ahead of those who do not struggle at all. Over half the prisoners in Scottish prisonsts are there only because of poverty, because they could not pay fines. The real criminals in Scotland are the lying robbing British bourgeoise and their murderous servants, the police and the screws. Prisoners are at the sharp end of the British state, They confront it in all its naked inhumanity and brutality, stripped of every bourgeois disguise. They therefore have a much clearer understanding of the hature of the British state than other layers of Scottish society. Where they band together in stuuggle in prison, or where their relatives form prisoners support committies, they raise their struggle to a higher level, in conscious opposition to the state. PTO
SA Last year the Scottish Prisoners Support Committee gave support to the long Dirty Protest in Peterhead jail, against the frightful conditions facing long-term prisoners their. This year it has run a strong campaign to support a Barlinnie prisoners 40 day Hunger-Strike against gross abuses of human rights in Scottish prisons. As communists we base our work among the mass of the people, for the poorest and most oppressed of the working class are the masters of revolution. Whether in the narrow confines of Scottish prisons or in the wider prison of damp, overcrowded ghettoes rife with poverty, unemployment and drugs, prisoners and their relitives have nothing to lose, and a world to win by revolution. We therefore give out full support to all Scottish prisoners, especially those prisoners and their relitives engaged in struggle. Their independence, and their roots in the mass of the people will be one of the keys to a victorious anti-imperialist revolutionary struggle. INSIDE PRISON AND OUT, SUPPORT PRISONERS RESISTANCE! NCFT (Sri) The people all over the world are wagging struggles to liberate themselves from oppression. To be victorious it is essential for them to stear the struggle along a correct path. Otherwise the struggle can attain temporary victories but may not be sustainable to the end. Although history is on the side of the oppressed people, a struggler wagged with short sighted strategy even if they result in temporary success will only phost postphone the final victory and Create unnecessary hard ship to the people. The tamil people of Ealam are in a Crucial stage in their history. They are not only fighting against the Sinhala chauvinistic state but also cumperillism whose interest the srilankan government represent. Moreover it is essential to wage struggle against our weaknesses such as narrow tamil nationalism, reactionary ideas from our federal and Colonial past
and prevailing factionalism that prevails among us. By learning lessons from the history of the other liberation struggles we have to formulate policies which are suitable to our socio-economic conditions. by and Moreover relying on the people, to learning from them to develop ourselves from their experiences with the belief that people and people alone are the motive forces in Creating history, is the only way to develop a correct political leadership. by this method Through this only can we politicalise the masses and make them realise their own potential. This is the precondition to build a self reliant nation. When we say that we should rely on our own strength for the national liberation struggle, we do not mean to isolate our selves from other oppressed people. On the contrary, the belief of the inevitability of the victory of the oppressed people and the historical trend
Clearly at the present juncture Israes shows us to choose this path. Stand. We do not have to be afraid to say to any group of oppressed people to be innovative and imaginative in developing their policies. If the material conditions are ripe for a revolution (may socialist, or democratic) ) then the people primarily who preaks the old moulds of thinking which is a product of past and present socio-economic conditions should correctly be able to understand the objective conditions prevasteig at that stage. This in turn leads to a correct political line which represent the longlerm interest of the people. History has shown us that between liberation movements which primarily depends on outside forces, have been manipulated by them, for their benefit. For example we can see from Entenah & and inf from other struggles peoples struggles for independence & the out side forces which offered help in the beggining change sides, & The above international experiences and the external political.
experiences have enfluenced our thinking and forced us to develop and independent Hand. As we beleive that at present international situation inevitably this slogan will take strength all over the world and guid. The people in their struggle against oppression. In this context only we can see the development of Juche idea by the Korean workers party. Moreover, there experiences of the anti-imperialist struggle and building a workers party are an invaluable for any liberation movement. Each and everyday we are learning from our experience, to Creative we have to be independent and open minded. we will learn from the positive and negative examples from the struggles waged in various Countries, all over the world. As. Comrade Kim Jong Il said Independence (Chajusong) is not in Conflict with international -ism but is the basis of its strengthening. Just as the world revolution is inconceivable
