For example, there are powerful political factors and social forces that could be mobilised in support of a nuclear-weapon-free zone of Ireland and the Irish Sea. If such a struggle were to be taken further forward, two things would be clear: 1) International coordination would be deeply appreciated by all concerned in linking the movement to that not only in other European countries but also to the movements in Asia, Africa and Latin America, for the reasons I have mentioned. 2) The large and politically-sophisticated Afro-Asian communities living in Britain (communities represented in this Congress by the delegation from Britain) would be the

A solid technical back-up from AAPSO would help this Afro-Asian community play a distinguished role and establish close links of friendship and solidarity with the peoples of Britain and Ireland, and would enhance the political prestige of Afro-Asian peoples in the world generally. So I should like, please, to propose that any documents to emerge from this Congress that deal with the role of AAPSO in the peace powers stress this valuable practical role that AAPSO could play in providing back-up in these technical fields.
