Doc. No.19/18 7th AAPSO CONGRESS New Delhi: November 24 - 28, 1988 D E C L A R A T I O N The Seventh Congress of AAPSO, meeting at a crucial juncture of history, shares the new hopes of the people which have arisen with the process initiated by the Soviet-American INF Treaty for destroying for the first time a category of nuclear weapons. This process to which the rising peoples struggle for peace, disarmament and development, democracy and better life has made the major contribution, lays the basis for a qualitatively new period ahead. Standing at this threshold, the Seventh Congress pledges to carry forward the struggle for the complete elimination of for economic decolonisation, nuclear weapons, / for a world free from exploitation, national oppression, deprivation, and for a global all-embracing security. Meeting in New Delhi, this Congress recalls India's glorious traditions of struggle against imperialism, colonialism, and racism. The Congress notes India's contribution for world peace and lauds the principles embodied in the Delhi Declaration of 1986, the Soviet proposals for a nuclear weapon-free world and India's action plan presented to the Third UN Special Session on Disarmament. This Congress warns the people to be vigilant against the nefarious efforts of imperialism to undermine the process of peace and its new manoeuvres and machinations to continue its policy of aggression and exploitation.
